As a company, the truth is, we don't like coffee pods, we do not believe in second best, the only reason why we supply pods, is because some of our customers insist on it!

A coffee pod is, in effect, very similar to a tea bag, but instead of containing ground tea, it contains ground coffee.

The problem with this is that the coffee is pre ground and compressed in a tight space, with no ventilation and at a set coarseness of grind.

So the amount of Crema your coffee machine produces is limited because the grounds contain next to no oils produced from the sourced coffee beans and you have next to no control over how fast the flow of coffee moves from the machine into the cup.

The advantage of using a pod is that you do not need a grinder, it is quick, easy, clean and convenient.

People often buy decaffeinated pods if the demand for decaff in their coffee shop, pub or restaurant is limited, hence the convenience of buying a small amount of pods to help cover that situation.

Ultimately it is always best to use Happy Donkey fresh coffee beans and buy a grinder to grind them with, so that you cappuccino, latte or other coffee drink is nice and fresh, the best it can be.
