Happy Donkey are suppliers of Fair Trade Java Filter Coffee. This fine coffee is made using 100% Arabica Old Brown Java beans. The Java bean is relatively rare in this region and is prized as the most delicious coffee bean in the world. Only 10% of the coffee beans which come out of Java are Arabica beans, these grow at higher altitudes than other beans and are therefore more tiresome to grow and harvest.

This coffee is ethically sourced from the Island of Java, it is not to be confused with Java blends you may find elsewhere, which are often in fact from Indonesia, but not the Island of Java, there is a big difference. Java coffee offers a a deep and pure bodied beverage with toned flavours, notable qualities are strong hints of roasted nuts and pepper.

Coffee was first planted in plantation form by the Dutch in Java, way back in the seventeenth century. The Island lends itself well to the growing off coffee beans due to it’s idyllic climate combining high altitudes with excellent levels of rainfall and a lack of frost.

Java is now seeing a massive revival with gourmet restaurants and coffee outlets who crave the whole bodied spicy taste of the ground coffee beans to wow their customers with, this coffee is an ideal after dinner drink, but it also lends itself well to being consumed at any time of the day.
