There are a lot of calcium treatment units on the market that are not very effective, typically these tend to be much cheaper than the units that we offer, consequently this can seem to be an attractive alternative.

However, for effective water treatment for all potable water applications where the use of sodium based systems is inappropriate such as on Commercial Coffee Machines, you must use a top quality filter.

Inside our CTU's you will find a substance called temporary salt or Resin beads.

The temporary salt or Resin Beads inside the CTU attracts Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Carbonate and heavy metals, which are removed from the output water supply by the food safe resin beads.

Once the water has softened it exits the CTU via a silver impregnated carbon filter, which is incorporated in the central riser tube.

This carbon filter removes any remaining traces of organic matter and chlorine. Unlike cheaper systems, the resin beads and activated carbon are not mixed together, thus creating a more effective and thorough treatment, resulting in cleaner, better tasting and smelling water that will not scale up your machine.

For domestic coffee machines which have an internal tank and easily accessible water feed pipe, use our Dom filters, these utilise the same resin as in our CTU's and are really beneficial to preventing breakdown on domestic espresso coffee machines such as the Rancilio Silvia, the Gaggia Classic and old style Baby, the Iberital Hand Fill and the Expobar hand fill machines.
